A comparative feminist political ecology of precarity

  Araby SMYTH, York University, Canada

Women living in the urban areas of lower and middle-income countries work hard each day, engaging in a broad range of economic activities to make ends meet, yet many still experience forms of economic insecurity and uncertainty. This talk makes contributions to feminist scholarship through an analysis of the conditions of precarity that women are subjected to and a discussion of women’s strategies for navigating difficult economic situations.
